Monday

Monday. And I ignored the alarm
Dragging my weighted body about the house
Putting myself to work on breakfast
Wishing hard the house was quiet as a mouse

My brain is full, my bones so heavy
Another night of not much sleep
No amount of coffee, cold showers
Will wake my soul, make me leap

So I push myself into gear
Trying to get those cogs working
Pretending to be alert and ready
Though the fog is still lurking

Breakfast, laundry
bath for child one
Colouring, cleaning
Then finally, breakfast for mum

"Seize the day", "Hakuna Matata"
They say with such gumption
But reality is
I need more than that to function.
